mamma mia! here we go again! | 2018

Ten years after... here we go again! Mamma Mia! 'cause is that kind of memory that you will recall from your summer.

Besides from the original cast with Donna Sheridan - Meryl Streep - as the main character along with her daughter Sophie - Amanda Seyfried - in this film we have the young Donna (Lily James), Bill (Josh Dylan), Sam (Jeremy Irvine), Harry (Hugh Skinner),  Rosie (Alexa Davies), Tanya (Jessica Keenan Wynn) and Sophie's grandma (Cher). The past and the present from this characters is combined and intertwined and keep you on the edge of your seat during 2 hours.

Normally, sequels from movies aren't as good as the first one, but in my own opinion, this film is as good as the first one mainly because of the amazing performance that Lily James - young Donna - offers us. She totally knows how to step in Meryl Streep's shoes (and that's not easy as Meryl may probably one of the best actresses ever). She has charisma and accomplishes the mission of making you identified with Donna's love story(ies), her live, and her dreams. The other actresses, Alexa Davies and Tanya really nail the personality from their characters. As for the actors, Jeremy, Hugh and Josh, they did a great job as well stepping into the shoes from Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and  Stellan Skarsgård.

As in Mamma Mia! (2008) you leave the cinema singing the featured ABBA songs from the soundtrack and with the sensation that you've danced and jived and that you have had "the time of your life". Personally I am looking forward to watch it again. A must see movie during this summer, featuring a lovely photography from Croatia - where they filmed the majority of the movie - and great costume design with great outfits.

only god forgives | 2013

I saw this movie at the Sitges Film Festival. When the movie started you could feel Gosling's presence in the film as you do all the time that the movie lasts... but nothing more. Ryan Gosling's carachter 'Julian' seems like a ghost that sometimes can be violent and other times he stands up with everything, that her mother says. The movie stands between the violence and the colors, the feelings that the scenes produce on you. I think that the film is a metaphor of the things that happen in a kind of world that exists and where the only way of surviving is violence, but also your way of dying. Right know I can tell I made a good choice, 'cause this movie is different, it has something special Thanks to the Sitges Festival Organization for bringing this movie to Sitges!

guardians of the galaxy | 2014

The James Gunn film is set in a galaxy where the heroes haven't got the superhero profile. Peter Quill is a bounty hunt er that was taken away from his planet, the Earth, when he was just a boy. From his planet he only has a walkman with a cassette that has multiple songs.  It is noteworthy to say that the nostalgic songs and the reference to the movie Footloose (1984) where Kevin Bacon becomes a hero changing a situation by dancing makes this film different.  As said at the beginning, the characters have all a different profile that you wouldn't identify with a hero. They are selfish, they only look for themselves... When Peter steals something capable of destroying the galaxy from Ronan - the tyrant of the film  - Gamora (Zoe Saldana) has the duty to bring it back to Ronan, but she's planning her betrayal. Besides that, the Groot and Rocket want to capture Peter to earn money. This persecution finishes when they all go to jail and have to ally in order to get ...

her | 2013

Her, what a film, what a love story. Wonderful. In the near future, Spike Jonze (director and writer) creates a modern Los Angeles - like Ridley Scott did with Blade Runner, even though it is not that dark - with skyscrapers and an orwellian atmosphere. All the work, ideas, imagination of Scott and Orwell are seen in this movie with the help of Jonze's amazing script and story.  The movie touches so many subjects; from the Blade Runner's humanity or not, to the big brother and technological elements that Orwell created. It narrates the story of Theodore, a letter writer - yes he writes letters for other people -that has just split up with his wife whose he is kind of still in love because they grew up together and he lived nearly all his live with her. Her, the wife - or soon ex-wife - is the cause of the depression of Theodore, but when he discovers a new technological gadget that is programmed to be a kind of "conscience" for the human he buys it. Sama...
